About

Mac Campbell Owner/Instructor

Mac is a detective with the Gastonia Police Department and has over 25 years of Law Enforcement experience. He was a SWAT Team sniper for over 10 years and was the Sniper Team leader for several years. He was over Sniper Training and Teaching sniper schools. Mac attended the USMC Advanced Urban Sniper School. Mac is still involved with teaching and tactical training for civilians and law enforcement. Mac is a NC General Instructor and a NRA certified instructor. He enjoys teaching and specializes in Tactical Carbine and Long Range Precision. Mac has Class 7 FFL licence with a Class 2 SOT. Scott Norton Instructor

Scott is a current Sergeant with the Gastonia Police Department with more than 15 years of experience. He is currently a member of the GPD SWAT Team for over 13 years. Being a member of GPD SWAT has afforded him unique opportunities to be trained by FBI HRT as well as a member of the US Navy SEAL Team 6. Scott has been involved with the Gastonia Sniper Conference since its inception in 2007. Scott conducts security walkthroughs for businesses and houses of worship. He trains employees and congregations in Active Shooter Preparedness and Response through his company Safe Haven Solutions. Scott is a NRA Certified Instructor with emphasis on rifle education and instruction.

Eric Seagle Instructor

Eric is a Gaston County, North Carolina native. He is currently a Sergeant with the Gastonia Police Department and has been with them since 2009. He is a graduate of Western Carolina University with a BS degree in Criminal Justice as well as a Masters in Criminal Justice from  East Carolina University. He is currently an assistant Team Leader with the Gastonia Regional SWAT Team and member since 2011.  He is a North Carolina Certified Instructor, specializing in Firearms, Less than Lethal and Rapid Deployment, as well as our Carry Concealed certified instructor. Eric has an absolute passion for instructing and it shows in his students. Eric is a Certified Glock and Smith & Wesson Armorist.

Eric Howard Instructor

Eric is a current Sergeant with the Gastonia Police Department with more than 20 years of experience.

He was a SWAT Team Sniper for over 12 years and was the Sniper Team Leader for several years.  He was over Sniper Training and Coordinating Sniper Schools. Eric attended the USMC Advanced Urban Sniper School. He has competed in several sniper competitions. He coordinated and runs the Gastonia Sniper Conference and other Precision Shooting events. Eric is still a Team Leader on Tactical Teams and is a NC Certified General Instructor as well as a NRA Certified Instructor. He enjoys teaching all aspects of shooting disciplines and specializes in long range precision. Eric is a Certified Glock Armorist. 

 

Concealed Carry Class

$50.00 (Includes $25.00 range fee)

According to the North Carolina Administrative Code, an individual is required to meet the set minimum standards for a North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun Class.  Our qualified, experienced trainers will provide you the skills, techniques and knowledge you need for a North Carolina Concealed Carry Permit.

Those requirements are:

  1. Course must be a minimum of eight (8) hours long plus range and qualification time.

  2. The legal block of instruction must be a minimum of two (2) hours in length.

  3. A written legal examination is required.

  4. A shooting proficiency examination is required. The course of fire must be a minimum of 50 rounds with 10 rounds fired from the three yard line, 10 rounds fired from the five yard line, and 10 rounds fired from the seven yard line. Extra ammo for additional warm-up drills.

  5. The Concealed Carry Handgun Class must cover the following topics or it does not meet the minimum state standards:

  •     Legal Issues

  •     Handgun Safety

  •     Handguns

  •     Marksmanship Fundamentals

  •     Carrying Concealed Safety Issues

  •     Presentation Techniques

  •     Cleaning and Maintenance

  •     Ammunition

  •     Proficiency Drills 

Class Requirements:

  • Eye & Ear protection, ball cap or suitable head gear

  • Serviceable pistol or revolver – typical calibers are 380, 9 mm, 45 cal

  • Holster with retention capabilities is recommended (Youtube: Holsters 101)

  • Minimum of 2 serviceable magazines

  • 50 rounds of ammo (NO STEEL CORE ammo)

  • Suitable range wear depending on the season

  • BRTG does not provide rental firearms

Basic Pistol

$100.00 (Includes $25.00 range fee)

Basic pistol class takes place in a traditional classroom and range environment. Course topics include: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship, and shooting range safety. Additionally, students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range.

  • Serviceable pistol or revolver – typical calibers are 380, 9 mm, 45 cal

  • Holster with retention capabilities is recommended (Youtube: Holsters 101)

Basic Carbine

An entry level course for carbine shooters. This class is geared for those who have not had any formal instruction. Topics covered include safety, stance, zeroing for iron sights and optics, sight alignment, correcting malfunctions and trigger control. Familiarization with their carbine includes field stripping and maintenance. Other areas that are covered include shooting positions, and introduction to different skill drills including dry fire.

Class requirements:

  • Eye & Ear protection, ball cap or suitable head gear

  • Serviceable carbine – typical calibers are 9 mm, or 5.56 mm, 

  • Serviceable sling- suitable for a variety of shooting positions – tactical type preferred

  • Minimum 1 magazine pouch – or method to carry spare magazine(s)

Tactical Pistol & Vehicle Defense

$150.00 (Include $25.00 range fee)

Basic Pistol class or equivalent is a prerequisite.

Students should already have a sound foundation in the use of the pistol. After a quick review of the fundamentals, the course will continue with advanced drills and move into timed stress events. The focus of this class will require students to have Carry Conceal Holsters. Topics will include, equipment setup, reloading, malfunctions, ready positions, shooting positions, close contact drills, shooting while moving, barricades, barrel sight relationship and support side shooting. 

Most of us spend a lot of time in our vehicles.  This class focuses on tactics and techniques that apply to situations where you are in and around your vehicle.  We will cover carry methods and how to draw while seat belted in your car.   You will shoot from vehicles.  Learn how to fight your way out of and back into your car, truck or van. 

Class Requirements:

  • Eye & Ear protection, ball cap or suitable head gear

  • Serviceable pistol or revolver – typical calibers are 380, 9 mm, 45 cal

  • Carry Conceal Holster, in the waistband or out of the waistband  (Youtube: Holsters 101)

  • Minimum 1 magazine pouch – or method to carry spare magazine(s)

  • Minimum of 3 serviceable magazines

  • 400 rounds of ammo (NO STEEL CORE ammo)

  • Suitable range wear depending on the season

Advanced Tactical Combo

  • 300 rounds of ammo for pistol and 300 rounds for carbine (NO STEEL CORE ammo)

Precision Rifle Course

$175.00 (Includes $25.00 range fee)

Precision Rifle Course includes rifle and scope setup, along with basic shooting positions. It also covers scope adjustments and basic ranging and windage adjustments. Training is designed to teach shooters how to get the most out of their scope and rifle.

Class requirements:

  • Eye & Ear protection, ball cap or suitable head gear

  • Serviceable rifle w/scope – maximum range 600 yards

  • Bipod or shooting bags

  • 200 rounds of ammo (NO STEEL CORE ammo)

  • Suitable range wear depending on the season

Requirements for ALL Students

To be signed before taking any classes.

I have no criminal convictions that prevent me from legally possessing, owning or purchasing firearms.

I further certify that I have no official or unofficial history of mental illness
or substance abuse and that I meet the prerequisites listed for the
course.

I further certify I have never been affiliated with or belong to any gang or other illegal organization involved or engaged in any illegal activities. This
includes international or domestic terrorist organizations.

I further certify that my only purpose for seeking the training, which I have
requested Black Rifle Training Group (BRTG) to provide me, is so that I may better be prepared to provide lawful service to my employer or in performing lawful acts for my own use.

BRTG programs depend upon the careful control of each student’s cooperation regarding safety issues; therefore, I understand that my instruction may be terminated at any time if my conduct is not deemed satisfactory at the sole discretion of the training staff.

That I will abide meticulously by any and all safety procedures required, and that I agree to sign a statement releasing BRTG from any injury I
may sustain during the program.

 

Tactical Shotgun Course

$175.00 (Includes $25.00 range fee)

This course offers a basic introduction into the proper deployment of the tactical shotgun for home and self defense.  The course consists of classroom instruction and live-fire real world scenarios. Students will be taught the basic principles of tactics, gun handling, and marksmanship as they relate to the tactical shotgun.

Class requirements:

  • Eye & Ear protection, ball cap or suitable head gear

  • Sling

  • 250 rounds of ammo (Low recoil, 150 - 00 Buck + 50 - slug + 50 bird shot)

  • Suitable range wear depending on the season

Low Light Pistol Course

$150.00 (Includes $25.00 range fee), 5 hour course

This course will introduce the student to a variety of low/no-light techniques for use in the real world. The Basic Pistol Course or an equal course is required. 

 

Class Requirements:

  • Eye & Ear protection, ball cap or suitable headgear

  • Serviceable pistol or revolver – typical calibers are 380, 9 mm, 45 cal

  • Flashlight or WML (Weapon Mounted Light); extra set of batteries; headlamps are recommended for getting around the range during downtime

  • Holster with retention capabilities is recommended or carry concealed holster (Youtube: Holsters 101)

  • Minimum 1 magazine pouch – or method to carry spare magazine(s)

  • Minimum of 3 serviceable magazines

  • 300 rounds of ammo (NO STEEL CORE ammo)

  • Suitable range wear depending on the season

2 Day Dynamic Course

$300.00 (Includes $25.00 range fee)

Combo Carbine class or equivalent is a prerequisite.

The 2 day dynamic is the most advanced course BRTG offers. Students will take their knowledge and experiences in the previous course and be tested in challenging scenarios, both physically and mentally...engaging from vehicles to 2 person team shooting elements. This is a high accountability course that is for those wanting to go to the next level of protection and situational awareness.

Class requirements:

  • Eye & Ear protection, ball cap or suitable head gear

  • Serviceable carbine – typical calibers are 9 mm, 5.56 mm, or 7.62 x 39

  • Serviceable sling- suitable for a variety of shooting positions – tactical type preferred

  • Serviceable handgun – typical calibers are 9 mm, 40 cal, or 45 cal

  • Minimum 1 magazine pouch for pistol and carbine – or method to carry spare magazine(s)

  • Minimum of 3 serviceable magazines for pistol and carbine

  • 600 rounds of ammo for pistol and 600 rounds for carbine (NO STEEL CORE ammo)

  • Suitable range wear depending on the season
